The 1st Sunday of June of every year is celebrated as national cancer survivors day. It is an initiative to make people aware that cancer is curable if it is detected early and treated in most scientific way.

It reminds me of the day in mid november 2013  when i got the news that one of my most adorable teacher mr K C Hati has been diagnosed with blood cancer. it was a challenge for me as being a radiation oncologist i don’t treat hematological (Blood cancer). The facilities available in Bhubaneswar for the treatment is also very limited. Thanks to all the students of sainik School who got together including doctors and non medicos who helped us to work out the treatment for sir. mr hati is also a fighter who fought the dreaded disease with courage. The best thing was he was correlating with his chemistry experiments in the lab when the sister was mixing the chemotherapy drugs. With the good wishes of everyone, blessings of elders and efforts of all OBEANS he came out of the hospital smiling.

I always tell my patient what ever be the reason for which you have been attacked by this dreaded disease but from now the positive attitude can take you to being a winner.
